The Assembly Solar Project – a solar farm proposed by Ranger Power in Venice and Hazelton Townships – will have a significant positive economic impact on Shiawassee County, totaling $250 million in investment to the community.
The project will result in a $3.2 million increase in household earnings through the creation of more than 300 jobs during construction, with approximately $16 million in construction dollars being spent in Shiawassee County. The project will also generate significant tax revenue that will help fund local schools and public safety like police and fire.
A strong partnership with local residents is key, which is why Ranger Power has taken a community-first approach by continuing to engage residents through community meetings and forums. Ranger Power has worked closely with landowners, neighbors and local residents, regularly meeting with stakeholders to hear their thoughts and answer questions.
A special use permit application for the project was unanimously approved by the Shiawassee County Planning Commission on Jan. 23. Construction for the project is expected to begin this year.
